ALTOID ASSEMBLAGE WORKSHOP
Lorma Freestone • Saturday 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. • 9/25 • $24.00 • Using the ubiquitous Altoid box, you’ll learn the fundamentals of composition and assemblage while working in these tiny, portable spaces. Included are many “tricks of the trade” and we always stress the importance of "no holds barred" self expression and fun. While you work, we include a very brief lesson in the development of the art of assemblage. With piles of materials such as charms, fiber trims, buttons, old photographs and evocative graphics, participants can “dumpster dive” into these treasures – creating wonderfully personal vignettes. “As far as my workshops go, I expect everyone to be ready to hit the ground running! We will begin painting the first morning and will have 2-3 paintings going over the three days. I encourage students to bring their own reference material. I stress value within the composition and will be putting emphasis on combining values to simplify the design.
By working on several paintings concurrently, I hope to show you how to organize a thought process and gain confidence in your ability to bring your paintings to completion. The backbone of every good painting is a good design. Layered upon this structure I normally use strong value patterns and lots of rich color”

Donna Jill Witty – Signature Status American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society & Transparent Watercolor Society (Master Status).
