Volunteers are the life-blood of any non-profit agency and serve as the community ambassadors and barometers for the organization. Whether you are contributing your time, treasure or talent to the Holland Area Arts Council, your involvement truly makes it happen!
The list of volunteer jobs and committees is designed to provide a starting point for your volunteer involvement. New ideas and participation at any level is welcome.

Exhibition Gallery Assistants:
Aid in hanging exhibits, hanging identification signage and maintaining general
appearance of gallery space.
Gallery Reception Hosts:
Assist with set-up of food for receptions. Greet guests, pour beverages, and
assist with light clean-up.
Reception/Recital Hosts:
Serve as building host for receptions, recitals or corporate gatherings. Provide
general on-site assistance.
Ceramics Open Studio Attendants:
Monitor Open Studio sessions; check attendance; distribute clay; recycle;
wedge clay; clean; take finished work to the basement for firing; monitor
student cleanup NOTE: volunteer monitor may use the studio for their own
work during slow open studio times.
Ceramics Studio/Kiln Assistants:
Load/unload kiln; monitor firing; coordinate firing schedule with program
director; monitor kiln supplies.
Teaching Assistants:
Assist instructors with assigned class; help prep supplies; assist with cleanup
Mailing Clerks:
Assist with bulk mailings - affixing labels & sorting.
Front Desk - Evening Receptionists:
Attend front desk. Serve as greeter and oversee traffic in Mainstreet Sales
Gallery.

Committees
|
While committees are 'staffed' by a HAAC employee, the role of the volunteer is a critical one - We hope you will consider signing on to one or more of the committees.
Meeting and project assignments are determined by each committee and its participants. The Strategic Objectives and committee goals are as follow:
Education Committee
Strategic Objective: Lead the market in visual and performing arts education for the lakeshore community (Fennville to Grand Haven/West to Hudsonville). Goals: Under supervision and direction of the Education Director volunteer committee participants would provide input as to course offerings that might be of interest to the community; assist with strategies to maximize class enrollment; and evaluate educational programming to provide direction for the future.
Exhibition Committee
Strategic Objective: Lead the lakeshore community in exhibitions. Goals: Under the supervision and direction of the Exhibition Coordinator volunteer committee participants would help to identify potential candidates for artist exhibition; facilitate collaboration with other organizations; assist with hanging and striking shows; identify and help to secure exhibition underwriting; develop and implement strategies to expand the market through promotional initiatives to enhance attendance at all exhibits.
Facilities Management
Strategic Objective: Maximize building use to the full benefit of the lakeshore community. Goals: Under the supervision and direction of the Executive Director this volunteer committee will review building usage and revenue generation information to devise strategies to maximize both. Also charged with oversight of major renovation and/or repair initiatives.
Fundraising Committee
Strategic Objective: To raise 25% of overall operating revenue Goals: Under the supervision and direction of the Executive Director volunteers play the lead roles in coordinating at least two events annually to raise general operating funds. Volunteers needed to assist in event planning; promotion & marketing; and auction/sponsorship solicitation.
