The Holland Area Arts Council and The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) are pleased to announce that the banners for the community art project, ReMastered, will once again be displayed for all to enjoy.
ReMastered are brightly colored hand-painted canvas banners displayed on light poles in downtown Holland from June-September 2009. ReMastered banners have adorned downtown’s streets since 2005. ReMastered’s theme relies on artists selecting a recognizable master work of art and altering (re-mastering) that work or a portion of the work to give it a Holland flavor or personal touch. These pieces are amusing and clever and an exciting way for individuals to become familiar with art history.
This year ReMastered will feature the following local artists: Mike Aronson,
Melanie Aves, Lynn Bekins, Donna Bogle, Sarah Bosarth, Stephanie Cummins,
Ellen Engle, Patricia Flynn, Lorma Freestone, Phyllis Graham, Paul Gunneman,
Hill Sue & Lauren Fogg, Antoinette Houtman, Beth Jansen, Sarah Jenkins,
Brian Owen Kelly, Andree Kenaue, Nathan Kukla, Matthew J. Locke, Sue Meeuwsen,
Betsy Burrma Morton, Doug Neuman, Mary Porter, Carol Rickey, Robert Schorhe,
Theresa Sproull, Chris St. John, Carolyn Stich, Mary Sundstrom, Dian Rutgers
Taylor, Emily Teall, Mae Van Ark, Brad Vredevoogd, Jabez Waalkers, and Ann
Whitmore. All artists are sponsored by either local businesses or individuals.
Maps including the banner locations and artist information are available at
