We would like to thank everyone who attended Daniel Pink’s presentation. The Holland Area Arts Council was honored to have brought him here as part of our Creative Speaker Series. Obtaining a speaker of Mr. Pink’s caliber was a collaborative effort with these visionary partners: Macatawa Bank, Michigan Works, WIRED West Michigan, Grand Rapids Community College, the Holland Chamber of Commerce, West Ottawa Public Schools, Lakeshore Advantage and Gentex Corporation.

Everyone who participated in the Daniel Pink event is now an “agent for change.” Mr. Pink presented us with the six essential aptitudes for thriving in this emerging conceptual era: Design, Story, Symphony, Empathy, Play and Meaning.

The Arts Council is pleased to be a leader for change in West Michigan. After all, we conduct an ongoing SYMPHONY of artistic, educational, and corporate endeavors, helping to create new MEANING for the value of creativity in all aspects of life. DESIGN is inherent in our art classes and exhibits, and in how we craft our gallery spaces, website, printed materials—literally everything we create. Even beyond our writing classes, STORY is essential to the Arts Council as we tell our individual stories through our artwork, tapping into the EMPATHY we feel for the struggles, delights, and fears people experience in their lives. And through all of this, the spirit of PLAY ignites our imagination and fills our work with joy.

Making connections with all sectors of the community is the Holland Arts Council’s new mission. These partnerships and the resulting collaborations expand our reach exponentially. Your presence last Tuesday made you a part of our story and we hope we can be part of yours.
